We are seeking a forward-thinking Workspace Automation & Technology Manager to lead the evolution of our digital workspace environment. This role combines leadership, strategy, and hands-on expertise in automation and end-user technologies. You will manage a high-performing distributed team (Portugal, France, Cyprus) of automation and technology specialists, drive innovation, and ensure our employees benefit from a secure, efficient, and seamless workspace experience. You will be reporting directly to the Group CIO, based in Singapore.
Location: Carnaxide, Portugal (Hybrid – up to 8 days/month remote, 1st month fully on-site)
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and develop the Workspace Automation & Technology team, providing mentorship, direction, and performance management.
- Own and maintain the Workspace Automation roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and IT strategy.
- Proactively identify and prioritize automation opportunities across the organization, driving measurable productivity and efficiency gains.
Automation & Technology Delivery
- Design, implement, and oversee automation solutions that enhance workflows, processes, and user experience.
- Ensure automation solutions follow industry best practices and security standards.
- Collaborate closely with IT, Operations, Security, and other business units to integrate tools seamlessly.
- Establish clear KPIs and report on the performance of automation initiatives, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee IT service desk operations, ensuring SLA adherence and a high-quality end-user experience.
- Communicate proactively with end users about deployments, migrations, new features, and changes.
- Manage IT procurement, lifecycle management, and ensure accurate IT asset inventory.
- Support and enable remote and hybrid workforce needs globally.
Security & Resilience
- Strengthen the company’s resilience against modern security threats by embedding security into workspace technologies.
- Ensure compliance with IT governance, GRC, data protection, and operational risk standards.
- Enhance existing security policies for the group.
Enablement & Culture
- Develop documentation, knowledge bases, and process guidelines to standardize automation workflows.
- Conduct workshops and training to upskill staff on automation tools and modern workspace best practices.
- Actively foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Required Skills & Experience:
Technical Expertise
- Proven track record (3+ years) in workspace automation, IT operations, and team leadership.
- Strong experience with:
- Jira Service Desk or equivalent service desk platforms
- Scripting (PowerShell, Pester, GitHub, or equivalent)
- Identity & Access Management (Okta or similar IAM)
- Unified Endpoint Management (WorkspaceOne or equivalent UEM)
- Enterprise technologies in use:
- Omnissa (Workspace ONE)
- Trend Micro Vision One (XDR & security suite)
- NordLayer (SASE, secure remote access)
- 1Password (Enterprise password management)
- Slack (Enterprise collaboration)
- Google Workspace (Collaboration and productivity suite)
- Solid understanding of:
- Mac, Windows, and Linux workstation managementNetworking (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, remote troubleshooting)
- Backup/recovery methodologies and server infrastructure management
- Knowledge of AWS and/or Linux environments is a strong plus.
- Knowledge on virtualization technologies is a plus.
- Knowledge on security technologies (IPS, Firewalls) is a plus.
- Knowledge on AI modern governance is a plus.
