Who is the team, and what are our main challenges?

We are a compact, committed team of four (excluding the manager) — each bringing different backgrounds, experiences, and languages to the table. This diversity is our strength. It gives us a broad perspective and helps us connect authentically with a wide range of buyers and sellers across markets. But what truly unites us is our shared drive: we are all highly committed to Catawiki's success and to each other's growth. We energise one another by celebrating deals, pushing each other to reach higher, and never settling for "good enough."

The core of our challenge lies in the complexity and variability of the deals. Each item comes with its own story, its own seller expectations, and a specific buyer profile — and we're constantly switching gears. Our success depends on being flexible, resourceful, and collaborative. We can work closely with in-house experts to understand every item's unique selling points, and from there, we add our sales instinct — that extra call, that perfect buyer match, that slightly restructured offer — to make it happen.

We're also constantly managing timing. Deals can be sensitive to hesitation, so we're sharp and proactive in identifying when to push, when to listen, and when to move fast. It's a team that thrives on urgency, celebrates momentum, and feeds off each other's drive to close. What are the key processes you'll be working on?

  • Seal the Deal After the Auction Ends: Be laser-focused on "Offer to the Highest Bidder" deals — turning unsold lots into revenue by getting the highest bidder to commit. It's all about timing, confidence, and knowing when to push to secure that final handshake.
  • Turn Unpaid Lots into Closed Revenue: Track down unpaid lots and chase payments with tact and smarts. You know how to follow up in a way that gets results without friction, keeping both buyer satisfaction and GMV targets in sight.
  • Build Win-Win Matches with 1-Hour Auctions: By running time-sensitive 1-hour auctions, you'll match sellers and interested buyers on the spot. It's high-energy, fast-paced sales where understanding both sides' needs lets you craft custom deals quickly.
  • Master Your Craft Through Focused Learning: For the first months, you'll dive deep into the sales journey we've already walked — reading key books, exploring sharp podcasts, and watching expert videos. We believe success starts with preparation.
  • Stay on Top of the Game with Clear Inbox Ownership: Be responsible for your own inbox, following agreed SLAs, and managing communications efficiently. This is where your structure and responsiveness will directly support team performance. Here, you also communicate about specific objects with experts and possibly CS.
  • Bring Ideas That Move the Needle: You're not just here to execute — you're encouraged to think strategically. You'll come up with creative sales approaches and process improvements to boost conversion rates and take our performance to the next level.

Our Offices and Way of Working

Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire and connect. Most Catawikians are within commuting distance of one of our offices and enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model. This means that you will be in the office 2 out of 5 days (40% of your working time) to collaborate and connect with your colleagues. That said, some roles may be an exception: if the job description states that the position is fully remote or 100% office-based, that arrangement will apply instead.
