We’re looking for a passionate and detail-driven Waiter to join our Front of House team – someone who brings confidence, care, and charisma to every table.
What You’ll Do
As a Waiter at Mona Verde, you’ll be a key part of delivering exceptional service with personality. From guiding guests through our menu to ensuring every detail of their experience is smooth and memorable, you’ll represent everything Mona Verde stands for – great energy, quality, and genuine hospitality.
Your Main Responsibilities
Guest Reception & Service
- Welcome guests warmly and professionally, ensuring they feel comfortable and cared for from arrival to departure.
- Present the menu clearly, offering detailed knowledge about dishes, portions, ingredients, and potential allergens.
- Provide tailored recommendations based on guest preferences and needs.
Order Management
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently using the POS system.
- Support upselling when appropriate by suggesting dishes, pairings, or specials that elevate the experience.
- Coordinate closely with the kitchen and bar to ensure timely and accurate service.
Menu Knowledge & Product Expertise
- Study and memorize the full menu – including ingredients, allergens, wine pairings, and preparation styles – to confidently answer questions and make informed suggestions.
- Stay up to date on daily specials and any changes to the menu.
Food & Beverage Service
- Serve dishes and drinks with care, precision, and attention to presentation.
- Refill beverages proactively, including wine and water, and monitor guest satisfaction throughout the meal.
- Maintain the cleanliness and readiness of plates, cutlery, glassware, and service stations.
Safety, Compliance & Hygiene
- Verify guest identification to comply with legal age restrictions for alcohol service.
- Follow HACCP and all food safety standards strictly.
- Maintain hygiene protocols at all times across the service area.
Time Management & Table Turnover
- Monitor table timing to ensure an efficient flow of service without rushing the guest experience.
- Help reset tables quickly and clean up spills or breakages in real-time.
Teamwork & Communication
- Attend pre-service briefings to align with the team on specials, events, or guest notes.
- Communicate guest allergies, dietary needs, or specific requests accurately to the kitchen.
- Work in sync with hosts, bartenders, runners, and managers to ensure seamless service.
Customer Care & Ambience
- Maintain ongoing awareness of guest satisfaction and act proactively to enhance their experience.
- Create a relaxed, welcoming, and attentive environment that reflects the Mona Verde spirit.
- Handle guest concerns with calm professionalism and escalate to management when needed.
Setup, Clean-down & Operational Prep
- Assist with pre-shift prep like polishing cutlery, folding napkins, and organizing service areas.
- Clear and transport dirty plates and utensils to the washing station.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the restaurant throughout service.
Billing & Payments
- Deliver bills accurately and handle payments efficiently, following internal procedures.
- Ensure correct use of the POS and financial protocols to support accountability.
Brand Representation
- Uphold the Mona Verde identity by contributing to a polished, friendly, and professional environment.
- Follow all brand guidelines, training manuals, and service standards to ensure excellence.
- Be a role model for hospitality – energetic, knowledgeable, and respectful.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a waiter/waitress in a busy restaurant or hospitality venue.
- Strong understanding of food, wine, and service etiquette.
- Excellent communication skills in English (Portuguese is a plus).
- Calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about hospitality.
- Team player with a positive attitude and professional appearance.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
