At Vodafone, innovation and technology are at the heart of our daily life, and one of the areas we are investing in is Smart Home. With Smart Home, we are looking at opportunities to leverage Vodafone's key assets, like broadband routers, to provide our customers with new and easier ways to manage and get additional value from the growing number of Home IoT devices they have in their homes. We are looking for a person to lead Smart Home technical activities. This requires a passion for IoT, a deep understanding of IoT ecosystems, and trends in the consumer connected devices industry.
As part of the Home Technology & Product function, the role of the “Technical Product Owner Smart Home” focuses on:
- Smart Home: Deliver a future-proof Vodafone Smart Home platform by working closely with key partner companies who lead the IoT industry.
- Product Roadmap: Define product strategy and use cases for integrating IoT ecosystems into our portfolio of home products to deliver a simple and smooth customer experience with Vodafone services utilizing IoT devices.
As Technical Product Owner, you are part of a multidisciplinary team being responsible for the product development lifecycle of Vodafone’s state-of-the-art proposition. Using latest technologies and agile delivery practices. our products and services are provided with high quality to ensure excellent customer experience and revenue impact.
As key member of our Product Squad you will own the strategic direction of our technical product development and delivery, working closely with the commercial product teams, understanding requirements and business demands to deliver cutting edge solutions. You will provide assessments of potential solutions together with your commercial peers, considering cost estimates and implementation efforts, as well as guiding new concepts through governance
milestones to become reality.
The role requires a solid background in digital and web technologies, IoT solutions, embedded systems and IT projects. Previous experience in roles as Business Analyst, Agile Delivery Manager or Solutions Architect are of benefit. Hands-on and deep knowledge of state of the art technologies and solutions used in consumer services especially in the mobile and broadband business is a differentiator. Moreover, strong communication skills are a must as you will interface with people and teams around the globe and with different disciplines, from commercial to technical and internal to 3rd parties.
In Vodafone we believe in the values of agile delivery and we see the Technical Product Owner as a fundamental role working closely with commercial teams, architects and development teams.
- Technical consulting of product teams - Understand business demands, and respond with assessments based on good knowledge of technology capabilities and potential re-use of these
- Guiding technical teams - derive and define technical product requirements from business needs and break down into incremental value add deliveries such as epics and stories and prioritiese the backlog per business needs
- Supplier and Partner Management - Responsible for managing the relationship and driving technical conversations with suppliers and 3rd parties.
- End-to-end knowledge - The role has a good understanding of technology capabilities and product requirements (what and how) to have informed discussions with commercial and technology interfaces
- Ensure efficiency and a high degree of reusability in alignment with architects, e.g. similar requirements or changes in the future can be met without incremental cost
- Drive and vision - ensure new product concepts get driven through pilot phase and into the hands of our customers
Who you are
- Degree in IT/Engineering or related field
- 5 years of professional work experience
- Strong communication skills to interact with local and remote stakeholders and built longlasting relationships across business areas
- Deep understanding and working experience of Scrum / Agile methodologies and Software Development
- Proven track record delivering complex strategic projects in the areas of communications, web or mobile services
- Experienced working in complex matrix organisations and supporting the delivery of projects
- Skilled in working with both local and remote stakeholders; skilled in working in multi-national and mulitlocation teams
- Successful delivery record as Technical Product Owner/Business Analyst, Solutions Architect or Agile Delivery Manager
- Deep understanding of Scrum/Agile methodologies
- Familiar with IoT ecosystems, both closed and open, like CSA Matter
- Familiar with PAN connectivity solutions based on IEEE 802.15.4, CSA Matter
- Familiar with emedded platforms such as RDK-B
- Familiar with IT standards such as REST, Cloud concepts, Microservices, APIs, Security Concepts, Home Gateway solutions, Mobile Apps
