The Role
The role is multi-faceted, involving application architecture, hands-on engineering, and line management. The successful candidate will lead a small chapter of OutSystems / full-stack engineers and ensure that web applications are designed and built to the highest standards. They will be responsible for defining and maintaining coding principles and patterns, converting strategies into tangible delivery pieces, and improving working practices within the development and technology teams.
As a senior technical leader in the Lisbon office they will be expected to support individuals from other chapters / Squads aligned to their business unit and be a Key part of the UK Retail Engineering Leadership team leasing closely with their peers in the Architecture as well as the Integration and Platform Engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
· Interacting with a range of people, from highly technical software developers to Senior IT stakeholders.
· Conveying technical, architectural, functional, impact, and risk elements of the design to both technical and non-technical members.
· Leading and assisting technical teams in delivering solutions using OutSystems technology along with Microsoft .NET and MS-Azure functions as appropriate.
· Engaging and operating across a broad range of technologies including the MS Azure stack, relational database systems, integration platforms, application containers, web servers, and basic infrastructure.
· Working with 3rd parties to align on technical roadmaps.
Technical Skills
· Expertise in hands-on software Design and development using Outsystems (on the ODC platform) with Microsoft .NET and SQL being advantageous.
· In-depth experience of Web technical design and integration leadership, management, and service-based architectures.
· Knowledge and preferably certification in the Microsoft Azure stack, including serverless technology and PaaS services.
· Expertise in working with RESTful APIs and the ability to offer the team guidance in this area.
· Appreciation of Agile and DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
· Understanding of architectural processes and liaising with Solution and Integration Architects.
Key Skills/Experience
· Ability to provide thought leadership and guidance to the team around OutSystems best practices and direction of travel.
· Strong people skills and coordination ability.
· Ability to lead and upskill technical peers and proven task management experience.
· Capable and confident facilitator with an engaging and credible background.
· Ability to closely liaise with third parties in the alignment of technical roadmaps
· Experience working within a regulated environment and with multiple stakeholders.
