WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Data Governance Analyst will be a part of Data and Analytics team working to ensure the integrity, consistency and usability of enterprise data across GKN Automotive. This role will collaborate with data authorities, IT authorities and business collaborators to define and implement data governance practices, data quality standards, and compliance policies using modern data tools and technologies.
This role is well-suited for someone passionate about working with data, who understands data management principles, regulatory requirements, data processing, data cataloguing, keen of implementing changes and solving complex challenges building a data-driven culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Develop and implement data governance policies, standards and procedures
- Build and maintain data glossaries, metadata repositories, and data dictionaries
- Define, track, and report on data quality metrics, and SLAs to ensure business-critical data is accurate, complete, consistent, and timely
- Work with data engineers to integrate data quality checks into data pipelines and models
- Lead workshops to identify data issues, root causes and help define solutions
- Audits to detect issues, non-compliance with data governance standards, and recommend remediation strategies
- Act as a liaison between IT and business units to support data governance initiatives
- Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of data tools
- Delivering training sessions to business users, data owners and other collaborators to increase accountability, implement standard methodologies and cultivate a data governance culture
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK)
- Experience with data quality management (profiling, cleansing, validation, issue tracking)
- Track record with data cataloging, classification, lineage, metadata management
- Creation of data policies, standards, and documentation
- Data stewardship and collaborator coordination, experience in supporting data governance initiatives
- Familiar with data privacy laws and compliance standards (GDPR, ISO 27001).
- An analytical attitude with attention to detail, with the ability to translate business needs into data requirements
- Superb communication and collaboration skills (English language is crucial)
- Proactive mentality with a continuous improvement attitude
- Proven experience in data governance, data quality, or data management roles
- Proven track record of implementing governance practices and improving data quality
- Confident in using SQL, Python (option)
- Hands-on experience with data governance tools (data quality, data catalogue, business glossary, etc.) Microsoft ecosystem would be beneficial.
- Experience in large-scale data environments, preferably in manufacturing or automotive sectors
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in information technology, computer science, data science, or a related field.
