Position Highlights
The position of Engineering Manager is a new placement in the Lisbon office to lead the local team for our Client Joe & the Juice.
Joe &The Juice is a fast-growing freshly made juice, coffee, and sandwich concept. JOE was founded in Copenhagen in 2002 and has grown to +400 stores across the globe with more than 4.000 employees worldwide. Responsibilities
The overall responsibility will start with technical hands-on tasks and, with time, grow to building and managing the development team in Portugal. The objective is to lead the team processes, manage deliverables and support the smooth cross-functional
collaboration between the Portuguese and Danish teams.
The team works with Nest.js, React, React Native, Postgres, AWS, Vercel, Serverless, Grafana, Contentful and more.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure quality and predictability from planning to release.
- Set goals for software products and measure success.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement of software development, best practices, tooling etc within the team.
- Ensure that product requirements are met and that software deliveries are aligned with business goals.
- Manage teams of developers (internal and external), including hiring, training, coaching, and career development.
- Work and coordinate across teams
- Spot opportunities for improvement and/or pain points within the engineering team, and introduce techniques and tools for improving workflows.
- Acting as a Site Manager, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the team in Lisbon.
Technical Requirements (Must Have):
- A background as a developer
- At least 2 years of experience as engineering manager, team lead or similar
- Experience with AWS
- Experience working with TypeScript
- Experience in building a new team in nearshore
- Leadership skills: inspiring and motivating team members, setting clear goals, and guiding the team towards achieving them
- Team player with excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration across departments.
- Curious, self-driven, solution-oriented individual eager to learn new skills and adapt.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline with relevant years of experience in required skills.
