Step into the Refined World of Luxury River Cruising – European Waterways is Hiring for its 2025 Season in France
European Waterways is a company specializing in high-end river cruises. We offer discerning international guests intimate stays aboard luxury hotel barges that cruise along France’s most beautiful canals: the Canal de Bourgogne, the Canal du Nivernais, the Canal du Midi, and the Canal de la Marne au Rhin.
Our fleet consists of 12 hotel barges, each accommodating just 8 to 12 guests, looked after by a dedicated crew of 5 to 6 professionals. Our cruises are synonymous with excellence, elegance, and authenticity.
Our clientele is primarily English-speaking, especially American, and accustomed to a high standard of service and fine dining. Therefore, fluency in English is essential.
We are currently recruiting an experienced onboard Chef for the 2025 season (June to mid-November) to work on board one of our French hotel barges offering semi-gastronomic cuisine.
This is a fully live-in role: you will live and work on board one of our boats throughout the season, in an exceptional setting, following the peaceful rhythm of the French waterways.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design refined semi-gastronomic weekly menus, adapted to guests’ allergies, dietary restrictions, and preferences.
- Prepare daily meals for the crew, while staying within set budgets.
- Maintain impeccable kitchen hygiene and comply with HACCP standards.
- Manage stock of fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients, with twice-weekly resupply.
- Conduct a weekly cooking demonstration upon guests' request – a highly appreciated moment of interaction and discovery.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in semi-gastronomic cuisine is essential.
- Able to work independently while being a positive part of a small onboard team.
- Excellent presentation, attention to detail, and a true passion for French gastronomy.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Fluent English (C1/C2 level) is mandatory.
- Availability for either occasional substitutions or the full season.
Contract & Benefits:
- French seasonal fixed-term contract (CDD) for 5 months – salary based on experience.
- Full board and lodging provided on board for the entire duration of the contract.
- Tips at the discretion of the clientele
- Occasional replacement positions also available.
