The Team
The Accounts Payable team based in Portugal services 5 business units across the international Hiscox group and is responsible for the paying of supplier invoices and employee expenses accurately and on time.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting to daily triage of AP mailboxes (invoices, approvals and queries), ensuring that inboxes are up to date, run daily and weekly Accounts Payable reports and take preventive action as required.
- Review and verify process flows for invoices reviewing accuracy, completeness, and appropriate approvals.
- Processing a high volume of supplier invoices, employee expenses.
- Maintain accurate payment records and ensure compliance with internal policies (Payments, T&E, or any other relevant policy).
- Assist in validating payment details & methods.
- Support the development of a continuous improvement culture utilizing external insights and best practices.
- Knowledge in Accounts Payable and Employee Expenses Tax Validation (expense management system is a plus).
- Identify opportunities to streamline AP processes, implement best practices and ensure compliance with company policies (Lean or Agile mindset).
- Knowledge of accounting principles from transactional postings to balance sheets and P&L analysis.
Person Specification
- Fully Qualified or Part Qualified at AAT level or professional qualification/relevant work experience in a similar role
- Fluent in English & Portuguese (Spanish, French, German or Dutch will be an added value)
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a member of different teams
- Customer-focused attitude, able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent analytical skills, knowledge of accounting, finance, and tax principles
- Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment
Professional Experience
- Experience in Accounts Payable is preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, Teams
- Oracle and/or Procure to Pay system knowledge will be an advantage
