Role Summary
ProVeg Portugal is seeking a mission-aligned and strategically minded Policy & Stakeholder Engagement Lead to spearhead our work on promoting sustainable food system in Portugal. You will lead the implementation of a key political action work package, focused on relationship-building, evidence-based policy development, and institutional collaboration.
You will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders - including farmers, policymakers, civil society organizations, and industry leaders. You’ll ensure the timely delivery of milestones and act as a trusted representative of ProVeg Portugal in high-level discussions.

Location: Remote (Portugal)
Hours: 35h per week
Contract duration: 2 years
Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement- Identify and map relevant stakeholders.
- Build and maintain productive relationships.
- Conduct expert consultations with policy and food system stakeholders to inform policy design.
- Represent the project at relevant events in areas such as food, agriculture, health, and sustainability.
- Organize and coordinate national-level events (e.g., roundtables) to engage stakeholders in policy discussions related to the food system.
- Draft and contribute to the official evidence-based documents.
- Track progress toward milestones, ensuring all outputs are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Provide input to project reports and contribute to public communication where relevant.
- Act as one of the project’s focal point, liaising with project national partners.
- Maintain and monitor the project Gantt, ensuring all deliverables (milestones, reports) are on schedule.
- Organize regular coordination calls, track action items, and update internal tracking tools.
Qualifications
Required:- Proven experience engaging with farmers and government institutions/political stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of the Portuguese political landscape, in areas such as food systems, agriculture, health, or sustainability.
- Familiarity with PT and EU policy processes, especially in agriculture, health, or environmental sectors.
- Native in Portuguese and professional English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust-based relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.
- High level of organization, attention to detail, and strategic thinking.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
- Based in central Portugal.
- Background in public administration, political science, agricultural or environmental engineering, law, international relations, food systems, or related fields.
- Prior experience in nonprofit, governmental, or mission-driven organizations.
- Experience organizing public or policy events.
