About the Role
Unilabs is on a journey to implement a new technology operating model, with a focus on centralising core services while retaining local expertise, optimizing supplier relationships, and aligning technology and location strategies. The aim is to enhance service delivery, improve efficiency, and support Unilabs' future long-term goals.
The lead on Cloud, DC and Hosting is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all Unilabs global infrastructure. In conjunction with our 3rd Party suppliers, the role will support in all on prem data centres, servers and the transformation and migration to the Azure Cloud environment, with the aim of reducing our technical debt in the business. At the same time, ensure our Unilabs clinics maintain the high levels of patient care and service.
There may be a requirement to travel as required by the business.
Key responsibilities
- Execute on the cloud strategy aligned with business goals, considering factors such as scalability, security, cost optimization, and performance.
- Lead incident response efforts, overseeing the investigation and resolution of infrastructure-related issues, including following up of post-mortem actions and championing this across the business.
- Collaborate cross functionally with Unilabs IT Leadership Team business leaders, IT teams, and external partners to ensure successful cloud adoption.
- Facilitate organisational change by promoting cloud-first thinking, educating stakeholders, and addressing concerns.
- Evaluate cloud service providers, provide technical input in the setup of contracts, and manage vendor relationships.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with cloud adoption, including data security, compliance, and governance, working with the relevant teams as required
- Work with Service Management and Service Desk teams to manage SLAs and OLAs with key partners and ensure that cloud services and data centres are optimized, operational backlogs are minimized, and services are delivered with minimal disruption.
- Define KPIs, monitor cloud performance, and optimize resource utilization.
- Ensure the scalability and reliability of infrastructure, leveraging cloud services and modern infrastructure management practices for high availability and performance with a focus on high-quality customer experience
- Provide training and guidance to teams on cloud best practices and tools
- Implement cost-effective cloud solutions while maximizing knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications
Technical Expertise:
- Lead the cloud migration and large-scale transformation of applications, data, and workloads from legacy on-premises environments to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud).
- Manage third party vendors, to oversee the management of hardware and software lifecycle, both on-premises and in the cloud.
- In conjunction with vendors, develop and implement infrastructure strategies and solutions, including hosting, cloud services, databases, and storage systems, ensuring systems are scalable, secure and compliant and efficient.
- Across both cloud and on-premises resources, accountable (with third party vendors) for capacity/demand management, forecasting and planning including compute configurations, storage, database, and network bandwidth, making recommendations on the most cost-effective way to provision.
Requirements
- 10+ years' experience and proven cloud technology expertise with vendor certifications (Microsoft Azure preferred)
- Comprehensive understanding of cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, Application Modernization)
- Implementation of the cloud strategy and network platform management to ensure high quality customer experience
- Extensive knowledge of cloud platforms and global networking and platforms
- Commercial management of platforms and operation: including IT assets, licensing, and vendors
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical Thinking, Ability to analyse complex problems and recommend effective solutions.
- Adaptability, Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

- Significant experience owning and delivering technology platforms in a business
- Experience in delivering IT technology platforms as a shared / centralised service
- Fluent in English, spoken and written
